Melee testing service now available for Antwerp diamond community
On Friday 13 November the International Institute of Diamond Grading and Research, part of the De Beers Group of Companies, launched its melee testing service for the Belgian based market. This service will examine diamonds in order to identify synthetics and simulants and is aimed at strengthening confidence in melee diamonds in the Antwerp diamond community.
Jonathan Kendall, president of the IIDGR states: “The service is focused on supporting the defence of the industry”. The launch took place on the ship HMS Diamond, which was moored at the Scheldekaai during her visit to Antwerp last week. “A more appropriate setting would have been difficult to achieve. The ship is engaged on a defensive role in the Royal Navy and IIDGR is a business focused on defending the diamond industry from challenges that may develop, such as undisclosed synthetics” added Kendall.
Dave Orchard, the Antwerp general manager, announces: “We are very pleased to promote this new service to support the local Antwerp diamond trade”.
