What can you sell in your chalet?

An overview per location

This year, we have added another option, the brand-new XL chalet, measuring 4.50 metres by 5.20 metres, where you can stand both indoors and outdoors,  Here you can sell both food and drink. There are two chalets available: one in Grote Markt and one in Steenplein.

Besides the usual product offering, we have added a number of surprising new categories:

  • Savoury snacks (hot and/or cold) + cava, cold wines, hot drinks and/or spirits (except glühwein and jenever). A good combination in the XL chalet.
  • Oysters and/or a fish snack + cava, cold wines, hot drinks and/or spirits (except glühwein and jenever). A good combination in the XL chalet.
  • Traditional Flemish winter fare: We think the Christmas market should also offer real traditional Flemish fare and old-fashioned favourites. This chalet has a breath-taking view of the town hall.
  • Meat snacks (100% quality meat): This year, the Christmas market aims to serve only the best quality meat, meaning hamburgers must be made of 100% quality meat. Only fresh and ground meat will be admitted.

Attention to the moderate consumption of alcohol and promotion of a healthy lifestyle

During the Christmas market, the City of Antwerp wants to pay increased attention to the consumption in moderation of alcohol and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle. To this end, the city will focus on compliance with the applicable legislation on the sale and consumption of alcohol with all the competent services. More specifically, we will pay special attention to compliance with the age restrictions for selling, serving and offering alcoholic beverages. Besides this, the city will also have a chalet with non-alcoholic beverages in all three squares and a soup bar in one square.

We expect you, as a potential stallholder, to undertake to comply with the applicable alcohol legislation. The City of Antwerp will take the necessary measures to communicate these specific points to visitors of the Christmas market.
